In Short ERP integrates the data in an organization under one common platform. The purpose of ERP systems is  to facilitate the organization of information and to ensure simplicity of use for all individuals.

The Internet and computer technology have grown exponentially in the last 20 years. Along with this growth comes change in how companies do business. Firms across the world have changed their information technology strategy from developing information systems internally to an expanding market of purchasing application software from companies external to the organization. Companies now purchase software such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Info Tech managers view ERP systems as an organizations most strategic computing platform. They suggest that if implemented properly, ERP systems can be a major benefit to a company, and can help firms overcome past boundaries in the information sharing process.

However, despite such strategic importance ERP systems have reportedly had a high failure rate, which in turn can endanger the core operations of a firm that was implemented with a faulty system. This website will discuss the major issues faced when implementing an ERP system into an organization, how to successfully integrate an ERP system into the business process and lastly discuss the major advantages and disadvantages.
